EYG Commercial named winner of ‘best installation’ in national awards

25th March 2024

EYG Commercial were “delighted” to be named the winners of a prestigious national awards which recognises excellence in the glazing sector.

The team were the winners of the ‘Best Commercial Installation’ award at the Glass and Glazing Products (GGP) magazine’s Installer Awards 2024.

The award was in recognition for our work on the Tree Tops development, at Hesslewood Business Park, in East Yorkshire.

The development, by our client Brooklands Property Holdings, is a unique and thoughtfully-planned collection of woodland pods nestled among the trees in the scenic parklands.

The pods, which were glazed with floor to ceiling aluminium windows and bifold doors to maximise light and make the most of the views of the immediate landscape and beyond, house a variety of commercial and retail businesses including a hair salon and lettings company.

The judges said: “This was an unusual an competently installed project that looked great.”

The judges of the awards were made up of leading industry figures including representation from accreditation body CERTASS and the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF).

Divisional Director Marc Hughes, Commercial Estimating Director Richard Saunders, and Trade Manager Tim Hotte attended the awards in Manchester on EYG’s behalf.

Tim – who has worked with Brooklands on numerous projects – said of the award: “We were delighted just to be short-listed, and you never think you’re actually going to win.

“When they announced EYG as the winner we were delighted. It is great for the team to know that their work has been recognised in this way.

“It really was a massive team effort, many individuals worked on this project, and we have to thank Brooklands Property Holdings, as it was their unique design that caught the judge’s eye, we just executed what they were inspired to create.”

Mr Saunders added: “It was a great project for the team to be involved with, we like to embrace designs and projects that are a bit different, or a challenge.

“It was a difficult brief in many ways, not least because our installers were working in a muddy wet field during bad weather with tricky access, manoeuvring large sheets of glass.

“But as always they rose to the challenge and the entire project was on budget and in time. Thanks must also go to the team behind the scenes who managed the process smoothly and efficiently from start to finish.”

Debbie Barbor, Managing Director at Brooklands Property Holdings said: “We’re thrilled to see EYG Commercial receive this recognition. They were instrumental in bringing the unique vision for the Treetops development to life, and their work clearly demonstrates excellence in the field. The award is well-deserved.

“It’s incredibly gratifying that the judges praised the design.

“Treetops was always intended to be a landmark development, offering a distinctive and inspiring workspace. Knowing that the expert judges agree the design is truly special validates the effort. It shows the power of collaboration when developers and contractors push the boundaries.”

She added: “EYG Commercial is more than just a glazing contractor; they’re a true partner in development. Their expertise, commitment to quality, and flexibility throughout the project were an asset to Brooklands Property Holdings. We look forward to working with them again on future projects.”

It is the second Installer Award for EYG – having won ‘Best Conservatory under £35k’ last year for a domestic project we carried out for a customer.
