EYG ANNOUNCES MAJOR DEAL WITH MODULAR BUILDING SPECIALIST
Hull-based EYG Commercial, sister company to the well known home improvement and conservatory specialists, has been awarded an extended contract to design, supply and install windows and doors to Caledonian Buildings Systems, one of the UK’s leading modular building manufacturers.
The arrangement will see EYG become the preferred supplier to Caledonian’s Newark factories.
EYG’s joint managing director, Nick Ward, described the agreement as “a very significant step forward” for theHulloutfit.
He added: “Caledonian is recognised as one of the true specialists of pre-engineered buildings, having completed many military unit contracts and some very major student accommodation projects. We have been talking with them for some considerable time and to have finally reached an agreement is excellent news.”
Under the terms of the new agreement, EYG will design, supply and install aluminium and PVCu windows and external doors for modules coming out of Caledonian’s Newark base and which are intended primarily for use on UK Defence Estates projects including SLAM (Single Living Accommodation Modernisation) and RSME (the Royal School of Military Engineering).
SLAM is a programme for the Debut consortium which includes Lends Lease while the RSME programme is administered by Holdfast.
Nick Ward said: “Our people are already working closely with Caledonian’s design department on all current regulatory requirements, including acoustics and solar evaluations. The window systems are specially designed to incorporate an integrated cavity acting as a fixing medium to secure the complete window that complies with blast protection standards.”
TheHullcompany has already completed the installation of windows to 2,000 bedroom modules with a further 1,500 in the current programme. A further 1,800 aluminium windows have been manufactured and installed to modules supplied by Caledonian to Phase 4 of the student accommodation project at the University of Sheffield under a sub-contract via Bovis Lend lease.
Steve England, Operations Director at Caledonian, said: “EYG are the sort of company that Caledonian look for as part of an integrated supply chain. They have the necessary resource, skill sets and commitment to ensure programme, quality and health and safety are maintained while still being very competitive”.
