EYG Commercial are committed to ensure that we are progressively finding new ways in which to
reduce our impact on the environment. These commitments, which are followed down our supply
chain, ensure that materials are ethically sourced and recycling forms an increasing element of our
overall activity. With the ever increasing evidence of global warming, the importance of reducing the
impact our activities have on the environment is becoming a necessity and more demands are being
placed on us to reduce our carbon footprint.
We already have the capacity to recycle aluminium, UPVC and glass, which has reduced waste
created by our 70,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility to almost zero. The company also has a Waste
Carriers License for the transportation of site waste to designated material recycling collection points
located at our network of depots. Our entire manufacturing process is undertaken at our manufacture
facilities in Hull and installations are confined to the UK, thereby minimising transportation and
fuel consumption from wider exportation. All EYG company vehicles are tracked and controlled
logistically to reduce the number of road miles covered by any one vehicle and our company cars are
all powered by modern low emission diesel engines.
Aluminium is recognised as a valuable commodity by the construction industry, 75% of all aluminum
produced since the 1880’s is still in use today, and across Europe, an average of 95% of aluminium
in buildings is collected for recycling. Aluminium’s long and useful life makes it one of the most
durable and sustainable building materials as its fundamental properties do not change after
recycling. Within modern fenestration systems and combined with enhanced thermal break designs,
aluminium can provide excellent insulation levels as well as maximizing natural light and solar gain
potential. The UPVC used in our systems is thermoplastic, which means it can be repeatedly melted
and reformed, and as a result it can be recycled easily and cost effectively. Windows and doors
made from UPVC negates the use of timber, protecting the planets trees, and as they do not require
painting, do not consume any additional harmful materials or generate associated waste.
We are keen to work with our clients to develop new ways of recycling and to encourage our clients
to select from our increasing range of environmentally friendly, energy efficient window and glazing
products. The efficient performance of our products offer long term energy savings for the buildings
end user, as well as providing value engineered options created by a reduction in building overall
energy demands.
