EYG Commercial were delighted to work for Torsion Group on this landmark redevelopment in Birmingham which saw a 115-year old 52,000 sq ft commercial building converted into a new and prestigious apartment complex.
Known as ‘The Lightwell’, our teams fabricated and installed 316 AluK 58BW ST aluminium windows, with an anthracite grey finish, providing impressive thermal and acoustic performance and high levels of security.
Mike Hastie, Business Development Manager at EYG Commercial, said: “We were delighted to play our part in this impressive development which provided some challenges given that we had to ensure that the exterior aesthetic of the original five storey Herbert House remained as unchanged possible.
“This meant we had to fabricate bespoke fanlights and round windows in the same AluK 58BW ST profile to replace the steel ones where were removed.
“This was a project which really demonstrated the versatility of AluK’s window range to ensure products can be manufactured to meet the needs of both traditional and contemporary projects in terms of look and feel, whilst also offering great levels of acoustic performance and security, which is of course of paramount importance on any major residential development.
"Many of the one and two bedroom apartments have floor to ceiling windows, so the slim sightlines of AluK's 58BW ST windows were crucial in maximising the natural light coming in are they are also specifically designed for this type of steel replacement."
Architects on this project were Glancy Nicholls and the client was Adapt Real Estate.
