Steve Drury joined EYG Commercial as a Quantity Surveyor late last year, having previously run his own construction company.
Steve, who is married with two grown-up children, had run his business in Lincolnshire for almost 30 years.
However, with the onset of the pandemic, Steve found his business was sadly unable to survive, and he applied to join EYG Commercial as he had many transferable skills.
Having trained as a Quantity Surveyor upon leaving school in 1975, he was well used to checking contracts, and dealing with contract terms and clauses while running his business.
Steve said: “Covid destroyed my business, and I decided I’d like the security of working for someone else, rather than being self-employed during these uncertain times of the pandemic.
“I am really enjoying it, working by myself in my little office and doing everything myself was quite difficult, so now I have colleagues, and it’s a big change. But it’s really nice to have work mates after 30 years.
“The interaction with the other staff makes the days more enjoyable, and the work is varied and interesting, so it’s a nice change.”
EYG Commercial supplies and installs a wide range of products for the construction industry, at schools and colleges, in retail, hospitals and GP surgeries, and offices, working with our partners all across the UK.
