EYG celebrates surpassing £100,000 raised for local charities and good causes

Golfers from businesses across Hull and the East Riding will help EYG hit a major fundraising milestone this week when they take to the fairways and push proceeds for local good causes and charities past the £100,000 mark.

The Golf Day, which sees teams from firms across the region compete to be crowned champions before a charity auction is held, will be staged for the 8th consecutive year at Ganstead Park Golf Club on Friday.

The event has grown from strength to strength over recent years and is organised by EYG in association with the Hull and East Yorkshire Smile Foundation, which in turn ensures all funds raised have the maximum possible impact.

Over the years money has helped renovate a children’s hospice, provide facilities for struggling families in need of support and to establish a new ‘Men in Sheds’ group in Hull, where men can come together to socialise, share skills and learn new ones.

A ‘tremendous achievement’ to be proud of

Nick Ward, joint managing director of EYG, says surpassing the £100,000 mark is a ‘tremendous achievement’ for the firm, and one he says all should be ‘extremely proud of.’

He said: “It is fitting that out of the many fundraising initiatives we are involved in, The Golf Day will take us through the £100,000 mark in terms of funds raised.

“It is our showcase event which takes a lot of organising, but is superbly supported by many other local businesses.

“EYG has continually invested in our community through a range of charitable projects and many have benefitted through our strategic community partnership with the HEY Smile Foundation, who help to ensure that every penny raised goes as far as it possibly can in terms of the positive impact it makes.

“Our ethos is to give back in the areas in which our staff and clients live and work, this takes many forms, from volunteering of our skills and products to calling on those we do business with to support good causes.

“Our charity work has had a positive impact in education, sport and community development. Projects such as Sunshine House, in which our EYG teams helped to renovate a children’s hospice, to linking up television show DIY SOS and providing our products and installation for local families in need, have stood out.

“More recently aiding the redevelopment of a derelict building to start Hull’s first Men in Sheds, which works to eliminate loneliness and isolation in older males, has been extremely rewarding and it has been great to see that initiative going from strength to strength.

“We do all this not because we should, but because we enjoy seeing the outcomes and investing back in the communities that have helped our business grow, providing jobs for local people and a platform for careers within EYG to thrive.

“Our staff, at all levels, have been involved in fundraising and this achievement is one all at the business should be very proud of.

“As a long-established business we are in a fortunate position in which our resources, skills and time can be used as a platform to support local charities.

“As we surpass £100,000 raised we are now formulating new plans to announce our community investment plan to take us to our 50th anniversary in 2020, and to continue to make a positive impact on local life.”

Charity praise for continued support

Andrew Barber, the chief executive of HEY Smile Foundation, said: “We have enjoyed a great relationship with Nick and his team at EYG for many years.

“As a business they are willing to go the extra mile to ensure events are a success, ensuring we raise maximum funds for the charities we support.

“For a local company to surpass £100,000 in money raised, which goes directly to local charities and good causes which will value every penny, is a wonderful achievement. We thank them for their continued support and look forward to working together for many further years.”
