EYG Commercial strengthens and restructures management team as it celebrates string of new six-figure contracts

EYG Commercial has strengthened and restructured its management team after enjoying another year of growth and securing a string of impressive new contracts in England and Wales.

Having recently secured four new contracts worth around £3.5m in value, the firm has added new faces to its management team to oversee the increasing large scale jobs being undertaken and ensure their smooth running.

“The commercial business has grown steadily year on year thanks to a combination of the quality of our products, our enhanced reputation from working on some really high-profile jobs, and our selective approach to the work we have taken on,” said newly appointed Operations Director, Martin Sutton.

 “It is really pleasing to see our order book looking so healthy, well into next year, with contracts which are generally significantly bigger and higher value than in the past.”

Included in the firm’s recent business wins are a £960,000 contract with Mid Contacting & Consulting Ltd to install windows, doors and curtain walling at the Robert Clack Lymington Fields School in Dagenham.

The £26million project will see 1,350 pupils housed in a combined nursery, primary and secondary school facility. EYG’s teams are expected to be on site in January of next year for the job, which is estimated to last around 25 weeks, installing ALUK systems.

Prior to that its teams will be in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, working for Nottinghamshire-based North Midland Construction on a new 17-storey St George’s Close student accommodation development.

EYG will be on site from mid-November to start a 35-week programme of fittings on the £850,000 contract, where it will install Senior Architectural Systems curtain walling, including many large glazing units, alongside doors and venting systems.

That job will follow the completion of two current projects in Swansea and Milton Keynes.

Fitting teams are currently based on the site of the redevelopment of Oldway House in Swansea city centre, where 556 en-suite student bedrooms will be provided as part of a £35million investment by the Midos Group.

EYG has been contracted by WRW Construction to install more than 800 Senior Architectural Systems windows and curtain walling on the 12 storey site in a contract worth close to £970,000 for the East Yorkshire firm, and started on site in September.

Teams will also head to Milton Keynes in November when working for specialist residential build developers United Living on a seven storey project in Silbury Boulevard, at which 139 apartments and 5,000 sq ft of commercial space will be provided.

EYG will install close to 300 windows, more than 120 double doors, escape doors and curtain walling using ALUK systems, in a contract worth close to £670,000.

Commercial Director Swallow says the restructure of EYG Commercial’s management team has been made to ensure it is best placed to deal with its increased order book.

“In terms of our turnover we have remained pretty steady year to year, but the significant factor is that we have spread our work much wider, working for many more clients and on more projects than in previous years,” he said.

“We have seen a rise in the number of contacts between the £600,000 to £1m mark, and that is very healthy for the business and the flow of work. We have not been relying on one or two huge contracts and have proved ourselves on contracts up to and around the £1m mark. That has helped us develop a very strong order book well into next year.

“With the contracts we are also currently tendering for also, including some larger scale jobs, the outlook is very pleasing.”

Joining the EYG team are Ryan Wright, who has taken on the role of Production Manager in the aluminium factory, with a focus on improving efficiencies and lean manufacturing.

Daniel Wilson has joined and taken on the role of Design Manager from Martin Sutton, who has now taken on responsibilities as Operations Director.

Mr Swallow added: “We’ve made these changes to ensure we are ready and able to build on our success over the past few years, able to meet the increase in orders and be ready to take on more, larger contracts going forward.”

Contracts completed by EYG in 2018 have included a £5.13million glazing contract with the St Monica Trust and two major hotel developments at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4.

These included a £1.2m contract to supply high-performance acoustic windows for a new Premier Inn and a £1.74m deal to provide triple-glazing window systems for two connecting hotels – the Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express Hotel.
