EYG Commercial partnered with Tricas Construction on the building of high-end studio style apartments for student accommodation at Birmingham University.
Tricas contracted EYG to manufacture and install aluminium windows and stairwell curtain walling screens on phase 1 and 2 of their prestigious Hanley Street development, in Birmingham.
Phase 1 consisted of 48 apartments and a residents lounge, with keyless entry and a Bluetooth system for giving students access via an app.
The apartments were constructed to give a ‘boutique’ feel, with high-end finishes and quality fixtures and fittings.
EYG were also contracted as the glazing partner when Tricas started construction on Phase 2, having been successful on delivering the previous phase on budget and in time.
Phase 2 involved the manufacture and installation of 136 aluminium windows and two stairwell curtain walling screens on a further development.
These were installed on 108 one-bed apartments, in an accommodation block which also featured a cinema room, gym and cycle store.
That complex was completed in August this year, having had input from the university’s architecture students about the design of the living accommodation.
EYG Commercial’s Sales and Estimating Director Richard Saunders said: “The student accommodation at Hanley Street is a real success story for Tricas Construction. It is extremely high-end, and it has been a pleasure to be involved with this project. To also have the university students, our architects of the future, involved in the design was an added bonus.
“The entire project has been a great success, and we wish all the students well in their new accommodation.”
EYG Commercial has worked on a range of projects involving student accommodation, including Chettles Yard in Nottingham; the Toybox in Birmingham; Tate House in Leeds; and Portobello House in Sheffield.
