EYG secures new ISO9001:2015 standard to demonstrate strength of management and continued improvement

EYG is delighted to have secured the approval of a world-leading business standards organisation with regards to the management of the company, its organisation, leadership and continued development.

The British Standards Institution (BSI) has upgraded its ISO 9001 standard to ensure it remains relevant to today’s market place, ensuring it continues to assess the strength of businesses and their ongoing performance.

The standard is recognised world-wide throughout manufacturing, not only displaying to customers that a certified business meets the highest standards of products and processes, but also helping businesses to continually improve, streamline operations, reduce costs and become stronger.

The new standard has been developed to place an emphasis on leadership, risk management, objectives measurement and change and business communication and awareness.

All organisations currently certified to previous standards will need to meet the new ISO9001:2015 requirements by September 2018.

Continuous commitment to improvement

Nick Ward, managing director, says EYG were keen to be ahead of the game with regards to its Quality Management Systems (QMS).

“Businesses are only ever as strong as their management, processes, people and products, and for us, with the firm enjoying continued growth over the past few years, it has been very important to continually review how we work to ensure we move with the times and respond to the market needs accordingly,” he said.

“This has led to us reinvesting in our manufacturing facilities, our showrooms, our products and our services in recent times, whilst also recruiting more staff to meet demand.

“As a business, we have certainly not seen the need to update our accreditation as a chore, but something which will help us continually improve, streamline our operations and ultimately reduce costs.

“By ensuring we have completed this process well in advance of the deadline, we have demonstrated our pro-active approach as a business and the strength of our management, which we feel will only help us to win more business when competing in tenders, ensuring we also fully satisfy our customers.”

EYG’s commercial business has enjoyed rapid growth over the past two years, securing an increasing amount of work in London whilst winning six and seven figure contracts across England and Wales, including contracts of a value up to £6m.

It boasts comprehensive construction knowledge and operates in commercial, retail, student accommodation, modular buildings, health care and education sectors, working alongside architects, construction companies, housing associations, local authorities and private developers.

Important for tendering process

Commercial director Steven Swallow says being able to demonstrate a business meets the latest standards is crucial when tendering for work on prestigious developments with leading UK contractors and developers.

“Everybody is looking for the same things, reputation, track records and evidence of quality management which ensures the businesses you work with are reliable, resilient and sustainable,” he said.

“With 47 years’ in business behind us, and having worked for some of the biggest contracting names in the UK, our customers know EYG can deliver for them, but it is crucial that they see that we are not resting on our laurels and are always looking to improve.

“Meeting the new ISO9001:2015 standard has enabled us to thoroughly review our management systems, our business strategy and our structure to ensure we are all working towards the key objectives and goals of the company.

“That clear vision sends out an important message to our customers about the kind of company we are.”
