Trade sales surge at EYG as business builds on its trusted supplier status

30th September 2019

Trade sales have surged in 2019 at EYG despite the ongoing uncertainty of Brexit throughout the year.

EYG Trade, a specialist division of EYG Group, sells the firm’s complete range of windows and doors, conservatories, orangeries and roofing systems, direct to regional independent builders and fitters.

The division has grown steadily year on year as EYG has invested more into the sales only area of its business.

Regional Trade Manager Tim Hotte, who has been with the firm for more than 30 years, says it is a clear indication that EYG has developed trusted relationships as a supplier to trade customers and builders across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

“We’ve had an excellent year in which we have seen trade sales well ahead year-on-year,” he said.

“With a quarter of the year to go we are in an excellent position, and given all that has been happening due to the uncertainty Brexit has caused, that is really pleasing and a vote of confidence in what we do and how we are working to support local builders and fitters.

“Our manufacturing capabilities mean we can serve our many domestic market customers and the regional builders and fitters who are looking for products, which offer the best standards in security and energy efficiency.

“We have certainly seen significant increases in trade orders for products such as bi-folding doors, with high demand online from customers wider afield. It is the same with aluminum windows and skypods.

EYG Trade has a design office and CAD experts who can work on thermal calculations to help builders comply with building regulations, and can offer full marketing support.

“We want to support the independent builders and in uncertain times, when the unknown impact of Brexit is causing concern, the involvement of a business with the size and history of EYG can be invaluable,” added Mr Hotte.

“Knowing products are supplied by a long-established business with a fantastic reputation, backed up by an experienced team, and with five-year warrantees on products, brings much greater confidence in uncertain times for customers making high-value purchases.”

EYG invested heavily into expanding its trade operations last year, with new showrooms opened in Scarborough in North Yorkshire and Newark in Nottinghamshire, adding to the successful operations in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

It has reaped rewards, highlighted earlier this month as Trade Sales Consultant Dave Walker surpassed sales of £1m for the year alone.

The department has also expanded with the addition of two new sales staff in Matthew Addison and Harry Sturdy. Mr Hotte is now hoping for a final surge of sales in the final quarter of the year.

“I’ve been delighted with how the team has performed this year and they all need congratulating on the job they have done. They have worked hard to ensure we are providing great products at a great price.

“That is what business is all about at the end of the day. It’s all about establishing good relationships with customers and providing high quality products in a way customers want, and at a good price.”

Established in 1971, EYG manufactures its products at its own 65,000 sq ft manufacturing facility at the company headquarters in Wiltshire Road, Hull, supplying domestic customers across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, and commercial customers nationally.

It employs nearly 300 people and total sales across all areas of the business topped £25m in 2018.
